Citrix: Migrar la BD Access a MSDE

This document explains how to migrate our Citrix database from an Access to an MSDE in case we need it for whatever reason. The Citrix DB should never be created in an Access MDB DB, but if it is done and our organization grows or we want better performance or simply to migrate to another version of Citrix or migrate it from servers… This document explains all the necessary steps, It's pretty easy. First we will have to install MSDE on the server and then run a tool to migrate the Access DB to SQL.

First, we put in the Citrix CD 4.0 or 4.5, We access the SupportMSDE directory, and we execute “SetupMsdeForMetaFrame.cmd”

This will install MSDE with an instance called CITRIX_METAFRAME, Of course, the table data is empty, Now we will have to import it from Access.

Once MSDE is installed, We have to go from an MSDOS console, To the CD drive and enter the CDROMSupportMSDE directory. We have to run the utility “MigrateToMsde.exe”, As its name indicates, it will migrate us from Access to MSDE.

Accept.

Comienza el proceso de migración, nos detiene los servicios de Citrix…

Y empieza a migrar los datos, es un proceso breve, ya que normalmente en una Access no tendremos mucho.

The process continues well and it is starting the services…

Ok, perfect, We already have the DB in SQL in MSDE (Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine). “Accept”.

Antes de realizar este proceso hacer un backup de la BD de Access, parar los servicios de Citrix a mano y hacer una copia del fichero mdb (“X:Archivos de ProgramaCitrixIndependent Management Architectureimalhc.mdb”).
