Nextcloud Free Add-In for Outlook
Another of Nextcloud's feats, is the possibility of installing a small plugin in the users' Outlook, so that when attaching files and sending them they are not attached as such, if not, it would be uploaded to Nextcloud and what the user sends is a link to the files. It is ideal to avoid saturating mailboxes or to avoid sending large flows of data by email,
From this Outlook Add-in we have a couple of options, use the free version or use a paid version called Enterprise version, which is usually somewhat less than 5 US dollars per user per year… so I think it's also a good option. With the free version we can only upload files directly from Outlook and set an expiration date to the link, so that after a certain time the curious do not enter. Instead, in the Enterprise version we see that we can also set a password to the generated link, in addition to the fact that we will be able to edit the appearance and the text that is sent to the end user, or we have a tracker or follower of their status to see who opened it and when…
To download, We will go to https://download.nextcloud.com/outlook/ and download the latest version, The installation process has no more mystery than completing the installation wizard.
After installation, will ask us for the access data, we indicate our Nextcloud server, Our username and password & “Connect”,
Now, Users would simply have to compose their emails in the same way, simply that when attaching a file, they should upload it from the 'Nextcloud' tab’ > 'Upload files',
We must attach here all the files that interest us, In the free version we remember that we could only set an expiration date for access to the data,
And this would be the default message that the Nextcloud plugin for Microsoft Outlook would create for us! The user could copy the link and delete the message or directly switch to the paid version and enjoy it!
