If after installing our Symantec Enpoint Protection 11 We can't start the console because of the error 4096 – “The java VM was shut down with a code of -1”, it may be because if we have used the Default Website option in the installation, We conflict with the other applications of this place.

We see the error when starting the console after installation.

The event viewer reports this error.

We uninstall our symantec and start the installation again but this time we check the Custom Website option.

Once the installation is finished, we will see in the IIS administrator that a new site has been created for us “Symantec Web Server” and with port 80 which causes our default site to be stopped.

We check the console and it should let us access. Now we move on to change the connection port to be able to boot our default site.

Click on Symantec Web Server with right button -> properties.

We modify the port for another port that is not in use. In my case 8008.

Once changed, we restart the default site.

We access “Program Archives -> Symantec -> Symantec EndPoint Protection Manager -> Tomcat-> etc”.

and modify the configuration file “conf.properties”, in which we add at the end of it the following line:

scm.iis.http.port=<port that we have put in IIS>

We save and close

Let's go to services and launch the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.

This checks that we have access to the console and our website is active.
