Using Citrix Optimizer
Very good tod@s! I wanted to bring you a very interesting utility for all those who use Citrix XenApp or Citrix XenDesktop environments, is called Citrix Optimizer and we will use it in order to optimize the Operating Systems that we deliver to our users. This tool that is based on OS templates, it will run directly on the VDAs and we can run it through GUI or PowerShell!
The first thing to do is to download it from the Citrix website: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX224676. And to take into account that we meet the requirements, What is PowerShell 2.0 or higher than the .NET Framework 4.5.2 or higher.
And once we execute it (Not installed), We will have three different options:
- Analyze: We will analyze the current server and compare it with the OS template. corresponding, it will show us the differences we have with respect to its recommendations, as well as explanations of what and why.
- Execute: We will be able to apply the optimizations that have been recommended directly to the VDA.
- Rollback: In PowerShell for now, we will be able to revert the optimizations we make and leave the system as it was originally.
What I said, we must initially select the template of the Operating System that we have.
And click on “Analyze” to check whether we have the optimized VDA or not. After a few seconds we will be able to verify and correct all the options that interest us through Optimize.
And that's it, We will see item by item if we have it optimized or not, As we see, there are a lot of options that will surely speed up the VDA virtual server or desktop, and we manage to optimize the environment.
By the way, Small reports could also be taken by clicking on “View results” and thus save in a safe place how our configuration was, Very cool, No? Well, ale! I guess all of you who have VDI environments will already have their VMs optimized, And if it doesn't, Give it a thought! It is essential to optimize any element that facilitates the work of our beloved users!
