Using IDEAL Administration
In this procedure we will look at the installation and use of this tool which is of great help to system administrators using Windows, since it has the tools that can be used the most at hand, More simplified. The official website for this product is www.pointdev.com where we can download a demo of 30 days.
It serves to centralize the domains we have, customize the console in our own way to have all the PCs/users organized and we will be able to perform the tasks we need in them, or directly any domain mirgaciñion/active directory that we plan to make, Helps us migrate files, Printers… We can perform remote controls on PCs, Remote software installation, inventory/monitoring of the positions we have and their status; and even work with Exchange. Of course, all this can be done in a normal way, but this is a comfortable way but paying.
The first thing is to get the demo of 30 days or the final product, and run the installation. It's a typical Windows wizard easy, “Next”,
We accept the license agreement by clicking on “Yes”,
We put a name and a company, “Next”,
Select the installation path for the remote administration console…
We check that everything we have put is correct and we press “Next” to get started with the installation.
… Wait a few seconds…
We already have the console installed, Click on “Finish”,
He will have created a series of shortcuts for us, Click on “IDEAL Administration”,
It will ask us if we want to install “AI Analysing” to log sessions and audit the usage of files that are opened on the network, If we are interested, we will install it.
As we open the console we will see the domain to which we belong, eye, in this case I am logged in as a domain administrator on my PC, if I am not, I should log in with a user with Touch permissions, Because if not, I won't be able to do anything. Here's a quick look at the main screen.
If we enter one of the servers we will see all the possibilities we have in it, if it is a regular server without being a domain controller, we can create groups in it, Users, Sharing folders, Edit the record, Manage services, The devices, permissions, Printer Configuration, Task planning, see which processes are in use and kill them; what software/programs you have installed, Your network configuration, View sessions in use, execute some file, See who's online, WMI Properties, System Information, Miscellaneous properties, perform remote control with TightVNC and view the event viewer.
Here's a summary of a server, We will see everything discussed above but in more detail.
In addition, if we click on the right button, we will get more connection possibilities, In the image we see which.
We can customize the console a little by clicking on “File” > “Configuration”
If we move through the different tabs we will see different configurations that we can make in the console to customize it more to our liking.
On the “Domains”, We have different options, We can look for a domain that is not listed, Add a Remote PC to a Domain, Establish trust relationships or force servers to sync.
In addition, the IDEAL Administration has a console to manage the Active Directory, since “Active Directory” > “Run IDEAL Directory”,
We indicate the domain name to be managed and we accept,
We see a console to manage the domain, from here we will manage it fully, and we will be able to perform migrations, Software Distribution, Policies…
Returning to the other console, on the “Migration” We can run the wizard to migrate our active directory from one version to another, We can migrate users, Ous, Equipment, groups, ACL Permissions, Printers… from one server to another or from one AD to another.
On the “Inventory” We will be able to make inventories of all the objects that interest us in our network, all Organizational Units, PC's, Users, groups, S.O…
This console is quite comfortable to perform tasks that we can use daily, We can use this one that is paid but very comfortable or the usual MMC.
