The book GPOIT – Group Policy Objects for IT Administrators is the third in the collection of books by Xavier Genestós.

This time the topic of the book is Active Directory Group Policies (GPO). GPOs are introduced by Microsoft on Windows Server 2000 and they have continuity today. Thanks to the GPO we can customize, configure, limit, centrally and automatically all types of elements.

GPOs are a thing of the past, Present and future. There are also WSUS-type services, Print servers, etc whose configuration on the client computers can be deployed with GPO. Understanding how it works in all types of environments is essential, but in VDI or terminal server environments, thanks to GPOs, We will be able to optimize performance and save costs directly.

And of course, third-party applications that bring their own policies or templates to be able to configure them centrally, or if we dare ourselves we will do them!!! and of course we will share them!!!

The book covers all those aspects that we have to take into account when working with GPO. On the one hand, the book explains the operation and application of GPOs: Files, refresh, location, replica of the SYSVOL, Granular backup, etc. On the other hand, it explains all those functionalities that we can perform with the administration console: inheritance, Required bond, Item Search, Links, Security Filtering.

Advanced topics such as the reverse loop are also explained, GPO over any application, Tattoing, etc. Each concept and functionality is explained with a graphic example, where it will be very easy for us to understand what it consists of.

In the last chapter of the book we will find a checklist of all those concepts and functionalities to make a good design of our GPO map.
