In this document we will see a manual migration process of an organization with Citrix XenApp 6 or 6.5, we'll look at how to export both policies and apps from our old farms to a new community in Citrix XenApp 7.6, optionally we can also make an on-site upgrade of the XenApp 6.x servers themselves to VDA 7.6 to be able to reuse them!
A lightweight application released by Citrix for Windows users 8 or RT (on PCs, tablets…) is XenApp Manager; an application that will help us manage our users' sessions on XenApp farms 6.5 in a simple way! We will be able to quickly search for an ICA session (Citrix HDX) or RDP to close or disconnect it; we will be able to manage up to 10 farms simultaneously and 10.000 Sessions!
En el pasado Citrix Synergy de Barcelona presentaron Citrix XenApp 6.5 Mobility Pack, es una funcionalidad nueva que mejora la experiencia de las aplicaciones soportadas o escritorios bajo dispositivos móviles, detecta automaticamente cualquier dispositivo con Citrix Receiver en Android 3.0 o en iOS.
Two of the new features of Citrix XenApp 6.5 is the use of Session Pre-launch or Pre-start, which allows us to automatically start an ICA session for our users in order to avoid that small delay when they open the first app, the other new feature is the configuration of Session Linger or Persistent Session, which will allow setting a time for the ICA session to close when the user closes their last app, thus avoiding having to wait again when they open another app.
