Citrix XenMobile – Prerequisites

We will start with this first document by looking at the deployment of Citrix's XenMobile product, an MDM solution (Mobile Device Management) that will perfectly cover the management of any mobile device in our organization. We will have control over corporate data and applications on users' personal devices, being able to allow BYOD (bring your own device – Bring Your Own Devices) in our companies!

Upgrade ESXi hosts to 5.5 with Update Manager

Continuing to upgrade your environment to vSphere 5.5 with Update Manager, after upgrading vCenter Server and other components, the next step will be the upgrade of the ESXi hosts to the version 5.5. As we saw in a previous document, we can also perform the update manually. We will be able to directly migrate the ESX 4.x to ESXi 5.5 or upgrade the ESXi 4.x or 5.x directly.

Upgrade a vCenter 5.5 and vSphere Update Manager 5.5

Well, Another way to upgrade to the vSphere version 5.5 will be to upgrade our vCenter Server (Windows-based), later we will update Update Manager and with it the hosts in an orderly way (to put an end to VMTools in virtual machines and raise vHD if interested). This is usually found in somewhat more complex environments, where neither vCSA nor update management is used.

Citrix XenMobile MDM

XenMobile is a management solution for any mobile device that provides management, Setup and security on employees' mobile devices in any organization. Now, we may allow BYOD (bring your own device – Bring Your Own Devices) in our companies and have absolute control over the corporate part of the devices.

Upgrading Hosts to VMware ESXi 5.5 manually

In this second document migrating our virtual infrastructure to a vSphere environment 5.5, We will look at the steps to take in case of a manual update, where we first saw how to upgrade the vCenter Server (standalone o appliance) and then we'll update the hosts to the 5.5. As we have already seen, here we have the news that VMware presented for this new version.

Recorded webinar: VDI differences with Citrix XenDesktop 7 and VMware View 5.2

The past 24 We had the opportunity to give a talk at IT Week about the VDI environments we currently have, a Webinar where we saw what each manufacturer has in their current versions, a little comparing one's shortcomings against the advantages of the competitor and well, an event that can be interesting to anyone who is about to implement an infrastructure of this type. We leave you the recording aside in case you want to follow it, the file of the presentation itself to view it offline and a PDF in case it is more comfortable for you to read.
