Installing and Configuring Symantec Backup Exec 10.1 – BackupExec 10d

Product that is no longer from Veritas but from Symantec, This document shows the installation of the product, Its licensing, Installing Remote Agents, Configuring backup tasks to a hard disk partition.

Metemos el CD de Veritas Backup Exec 10d y nos salta el “autorun” To install the product, We give “Following”.

We accept the license, and “Following”

Marcamos ambos checks si vamos a intalar los agentes remotos ahora, in my case, primero instalo el servidor de backup y ya después instalaré los agentes. So I mark “Local installation” and “Instalar software u opciones Backup Exec”, We give “Following”

Check that everything is OK, and we give “Installation”

…

“Following”

“End”

“Following”

Necesitamos una cuenta para administrar Symantec BackupExec, I'm going to create one and it will be the one that all users use, My system is simple, I don't want administrators who only look at settings…

I set the administrator one and perfect, We give “Following”.

“Following”

That's it, One for everyone.

“Following” If everything is OK.

and we finish.

The first thing it tells me is if I have remote servers for which I will make backups and that I have to install the remote agents on them, In my case, yes, I will make copies of an Exchange server that is on another server and of a SQL server, So we click on “Install remote agents”

“Following”

Right-click on “Windows remote agents” and “Add remote computer”

We select the Exchange server (in my case) and we give “Following”

It asks us for a user with permissions to access its content, We put it and click on “Following”

We do this step for as many remote servers as we have, In my case, two, An Exchange and a SQL , It can also be for a file server… We give “Following” and he would install them for us.

… we wait for him to install them…

Ok, they are already, We give “Following”, we would have to restart the remote servers when possible.

Once all the basic configurations are finished, we have to create backup tasks, for that we click on “Create a backup task”

“Following”

In the selection we mark everything that interests us, data, Exchange mailboxes, SQL databases… We give “Following” When we finish

It gives us a list of what we will back up, to make sure that we have access (permissions) we can click the button “Test” and it ensures that we correctly reach the data, We give “Following” once finished,

We indicate a copy order if we are interested,

We give the task a name to know “what it is about”,

We say where it will make the backup, instead of “All devices” We must select “BACKUP” which is the F:Previous BACKUP (the image is wrong).

We indicate that the data should be overwritten, para no tener un historial de todos los datos (in my case)
