In this document we will start with something easy, we are going to monitor our first Windows computer, whether it is a Desktop or a Server. We will monitor the basics through SNMP, be CPU usage, RAM, Disk, Net, Swap Memory and Ping. With this we will have a first base to then add more elements that we need to monitor!!!
This will be the document that we must follow if we want to enable Nagios and Centreon alerts through the use of email and thus receive the alerts in our monitoring system, when a host or service changes status to Warning, Critical, and so on.
Well, before continuing with more configuration posts about Centreon, We make a stop along the way, Let's go with something more entertaining, We will see a small example of what we will be able to monitor. And what less than to start monitoring our own Centreon appliance and thus start to see some possibilities and get ideas!
Continuing with the monitoring posts with Nagios, We will continue with this second document, where we will first take a brief walk through some parts of the console to know what juice we can get. And then we'll enable some basic settings to start booting, which will be nothing more than importing some templates to easily start monitoring!
We started a series of posts that are sure to generate a lot of interest! I'm going to post some documents where we are going to deploy a totally personalized and free monitoring system thanks to Nagios! We will use Centreon to generate all the necessary configurations and therefore super simple!!!
We are going to perform a Nagios installation starting from a Debian Etch installed without anything. With Nagios we will be able to monitor any equipment that has a snmp service installed and configured, although they can be monitored by other means that we will explain later.
