Exporting and Importing VMware View Settings 4

If we want, we can use VMware and Microsoft tools to be able to export the configuration of our VMware View installation 4 so that it can later be imported in the event of a disaster into a new Connection Server. Since all configuration is stored in an LDAP directory and each Connection Server has a local copy of the repository and replication.

From a Connection Server, If we go up to “%ProgramFiles%VMwareVMware ViewServerbin” by running the vmdexport utility we can export the VMware View LDAP configuration to a standard ASCII plaintext file known as LDIF (Lightweight Directory Interchange Format). Using the: vdmexport.exe > LDF File.

This would be the file in LDIF format with all our configurations.

And directly to import it, what we would have to take into account is that it is a new installation of a new VMware View Connection Server. To import the configuration from the command line in %WindirAM we run: ldifde -i -f LDF -s file 127.0.0.1 -z
