Configurations to be made on an additional server
These configurations must always be done whenever we have more than one server in the community. It is simply about configuring a load balancing to manage the applications and performance on the servers, so that one server is not filled with users while another is available, we can create different load patterns to balance users. In my example, I will create a load balancing for a maximum of ten users per server. Then, when adding the second server to the community, I will have to configure the published applications to run on different servers, that is, If Word is published on one server 1, it will also need to be published on the other server 2 so that users can connect to either server interchangeably.. And in the end, we will configure a mobile profile for all users connecting to the Metaframe servers.. Imagine that they personalize a published application. (Word.) If they logged into the other server, those personalizations would not be reflected., To do this, this profile must always be enabled..

First things, To create this load balancing., We open the console: “Beginning” > “Programmes” > “Citrix” > “Management Consoles.” > “Presentation Server Console”.

Envelope “Load Patterns.”, right button and “New Load Pattern.”.

We assign a descriptive name and in the left column, we select one or more rules for this balancing., the “Add” On the right side, we modify its value.. We can assign a rule when RAM reaches its. 80%, Or CPU usage reaches 90%.… In my case, I will assign a maximum of. 10 Users per server.. Accept.

Now once this pattern is created., It needs to be assigned one by one to the servers. (or applications…), so on the servers we are interested in load balancing (all), we right-click > “Manage server load”

We select the one we are interested in and accept.

Now we will do it on the other server that remains in my community. Right-click and “Manage server load”,

IDEM, we select it and accept.

To check that all servers are now using this pattern, We're going to “Load Patterns.” and on the right we click on the tab for “Usage reports”.

Once that is balanced, we need to assign which servers we want our applications to run on, by default we set that Word was on the server 1, now that we have added the server 2 to the community (and installed Office on it as well) we want users to also open Word from it to relieve the load on the server 1. About the applications we are interested in, right button and “Properties”.

Select “Servers”, We see that “MS Word 2003” is configured on W2K3VMHHH2, and now I want users to also run it on W2K3HHH3, so we select it and click on “Add”.

We see that on the right side, both are already showing. GOOD, now we just need to check that the Word executable 2003 is in the same path as on W2K3VMHHH2, if it is not, Click on “Edit Settings…” and we select the correct path, in my case, I have winword.exe in R: instead of in N:, so I correct it. We accept everything.

Vale, and now everything is already balanced, I simply have to make mandatory mobile profiles for the users, but this profile will not influence their normal network profiles, No, it will simply be for when they connect to the Metaframe servers. First, we create a folder on a server and share it, which will be where the profiles of all users are stored, logically, we need to set all the NTFS permissions correctly, everyone should have all permissions, the user profile folders will automatically be generated when logging in for the first time. Then we have to modify each user in Active Directory (on your properties) The tab: “Terminal Server Profile”; in “Profile path” will be where I indicate where their profile will be stored and where it will be read from.
