DiskLogon – Logon on Windows with a USB flash drive

From this document, We will see the tremendous availability that this product allows us, we will be able to log in to any PC/Server using a simple pen drive, USB or MP3 drive, since we can use it as a USB Token, o Smart Card to validate us against a team. Simply, the credentials are saved on a USB device and we can use them when we need them, whether to turn on a PC, to start a Terminal Server session or a VPN…

First of all, download the demo from their official website (https://disklogon.en.softonic.com) and if we like the product simply, We 😉 acquired it

DiskLogon

GOOD, Once we download it, We must install the software on the computers that we are interested in authenticating, we can perform a manual installation post by post or distribute it through GPO's x the Active Directory. In this case we will see a simple example on any PC, we will create a credential and then we will use it to log in to that PC only with the credentials that are passed to it on a USB. We start the installation of DiskLogon, “Yes”,

DiskLogon

We select the language of the installation, “Español” & “Accept”,

DiskLogon

“Following” to begin the DiskLogon installation wizard,

DiskLogon

Mark “I agree to the terms of the Agreement” to continue with the installation & “Following”,

DiskLogon

Select the installation path for DiskLogon, which by default will be “C:Program FilesDiskLogon”, Continue, “Following”,

DiskLogon

The name of the shortcut that will create for the Start menu icons…

DiskLogon

We check the summary, If everything is correct, click on “Install” to get started with the installation,

DiskLogon

… We wait while you install…

DiskLogon

We must restart the equipment in question, otherwise, We will not be able to access the settings panel, So we dial “Yes, I want to restart the computer now” & “Finish”,

DiskLogon

After the computer restarts, We open the “DiskLogon Options” to configure the parameters that interest us,

DiskLogon

GOOD, This is the product console, If we're going to “User Account” we can create user accounts with their respective passwords and store them on the USB or change passwords that we have already stored. We are going to create an account on the USB to log in to any computer, So let's “Changing logon information stored in portable disks” and click on “Change” to modify it,

DiskLogon

Here it shows us all the USB devices that we have connected with their letter, Your label, Your Capacity… and the user accounts we have in them, To create a new user account click on “Create New”,

DiskLogon

We fill in the user's data and when we click on “OK” this information will be saved encrypted on the USB flash drive.

DiskLogon

You confirm that this information was stored perfectly and we accept.

DiskLogon

And from the console we review the other options it gives us, since “Options” > “Local Computer” > “Windows” the possibility of being able to turn off the machine without having logged into it and if it is mandatory to do CTR + ALT + DELETE TO LOG IN.

DiskLogon

In “Options” > “Local Computer” > “DiskLogon” > “General” is where we can allow users to enter their credentials also with the keyboard (If we uncheck this, can only be logged into the computer with the USB) and the actions that the machine would take if it is USB pen drive will be disconnected, could lock the machine or log out…

DiskLogon

In “Options” > “Local Computer” > “DiskLogon” > “Disks” we will simply see the disk drives that the computer will scan for the user logons (since USBs can change letters).

DiskLogon

In “Options” > “Local Computer” > “DiskLogon” > “User Rights Assignment” We will allow users to create logins without them being administrators or to modify their information on the USB or to delete their information from the USB.

DiskLogon

In “Options” > “Local Computer” > “DiskLogon” > “Customize” we will be able to customize the message that will come out to users so that they insert the USB and also enter a corporate logo of the company…

DiskLogon

In “Options” > “Local Computer” > “DiskLogon” > “Remote Desktop” to be able to use RDP or Terminal Services to this equipment or others, if they can access the local USB.

DiskLogon

In “Options” > “Current User ” > “General” we can make the DiskLogon icon visible in the Windows toolbar.

DiskLogon

And this is what you would see when the PC/Server boots, It asks you to enter your pen drive and when you enter it it will see what credentials you have saved, you select the one you are interested in to log in to this position and click on “Log On” and that's it.
